Effective 4 November 2026

Bitepins ("Bitepins", "we", "us") makes the Bitepins mobile app for Android and iOS and the website bitepins.com (together, the "Service"). Bitepins shows food creators' public videos on a map, at the restaurants they feature. This policy explains what information the Service handles, why, who else is involved, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • You don't need an account to use the app, and we don't collect your name, email, or contacts.
  • Your location is used on your phone to show places near you. We never receive or store it.
  • No ads, no advertising trackers, and we never sell data.
  • Videos play from TikTok through TikTok's official player. We never download or copy them.
  • Creators who log in with TikTok share their public profile and public video list with us, read-only.

1. Information the app uses

Location (optional). If you tap the "my location" button, the app asks for permission to use your device's location while the app is open. It is used only on your device to center the map on you. It is not sent to our servers, stored, or shared with us. You can turn it off anytime in your phone's settings, and the app keeps working without it.

No account data. The app has no sign-up or login, so we don't collect names, emails, phone numbers, photos, or contacts.

No analytics or ads. The app does not contain advertising, advertising IDs, or third-party analytics SDKs.

2. Services the app relies on

To show the map and videos, your device connects directly to these providers. They receive technical data such as your IP address and device information, and handle it under their own policies:

  • Google Maps (maps on Android): Google Privacy Policy. If you share your location with the app, Google Maps may use it to show the blue "you are here" dot.
  • Apple Maps (maps on iPhone): Apple Privacy Policy.
  • TikTok (video thumbnails and the embedded video player): TikTok Privacy Policy. TikTok may set cookies or collect viewing data when a video plays.
  • Google Maps and Waze directions: tapping Directions opens those apps or websites, which have their own policies.

3. Information from the website

Visitors. bitepins.com has no ads or tracking cookies. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. The map uses tiles from OpenStreetMap, and fonts load from Google Fonts, so those providers also see your IP address when the page loads.

Creators who log in with TikTok. When you choose "Continue with TikTok" and approve, TikTok shares with us:

  • Your basic profile: TikTok ID, display name, @username, profile photo, and bio.
  • A list of your public videos: video ID, caption, date, cover image, and link.

We use this only to show your creator dashboard and to pin your videos to the restaurants they feature, with credit and a link back to your profile. We read captions to find the restaurant's name and area. We can't post, comment, or see private videos, messages, or your password.

Cookies. The website sets two cookies, only for creators who log in: a 10-minute security cookie during login, and an encrypted session cookie that keeps you logged in for up to 30 days. Logging out deletes it. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.

4. How we use information

  • To run the Service: show the map, play videos, and pin creators' videos to restaurants.
  • To keep the Service secure and working, and to fix problems.
  • To answer you when you email us.

Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent (location, TikTok login) and on our legitimate interest in running and securing the Service.

5. Sharing

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers named above that run the Service, or when the law requires it.

A creator's public videos, display name, and @username appear on the map, because that is the point of the Service. That information is already public on TikTok.

6. Keeping information

  • Location: never stored by us.
  • Creator profile and video information: kept while your videos are on the map. If you ask us to remove them, we delete this information within 30 days.
  • Emails you send us: kept as long as needed to help you.

7. Security

All connections to the Service use HTTPS. Creator login tokens are kept encrypted and are never visible to page scripts. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Location: allow or deny it in your phone's settings anytime.
  • Creators: disconnect Bitepins in TikTok under Settings and privacy → Security → Manage app permissions, and email us to remove your videos or delete your data.
  • Everyone: you can ask to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. If you live in the EU, UK, or a country with similar laws, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Email contact@bitepins.com. We reply within 30 days. To delete your data, follow the steps on our Delete your data page.

9. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. International transfers

Bitepins is run from Lebanon, and our providers may process data in other countries, including the United States and the EU. We only use providers that protect data in line with this policy.

11. Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll say so on the website or in the app.
